Celebration and Power of Diversity Art & Essay Contest - DUE 2/26

This year, February is rich with cultural celebrations such as Black History Month, Lunar New Year, and Mardi Gras. Cedarlane Academy PTO believes it’s important to prepare our students to be global leaders, and one way to do this is to celebrate the diversity of our students and staff. We invite your students to participate in our art and essay contest!

ART & ESSAY GUIDELINES:

Art Requirements (Part A):

· Artwork may be submitted in any medium (pencil, crayon, paint, digital, etc.)

· Artwork must be scanned or photographed and emailed

· Capture the look, feel, and character of diversity at Cedarlane Academy. Contest entries are judged on originality, adherence to the theme “Celebration and Power of Diversity”, visual and message appeal, and how the poster art captures the look, feel, and character of diversity. The use of some text is encouraged.

Essay Requirements (Part B): Consider the following when writing your essay:

· Tell us a little bit about your poster design.

· How does your poster design celebrate diversity at Cedarlane Academy?

· How does your poster depict the power of diversity and respect for others?

· E-Mail to: Your teacher (social studies if in middle school), Mrs. Park, Ms. Mannino, or PTO (contactus@cedarlanePTO.org) by: FRIDAY, FEB. 26TH

· Include Student Name, Grade, Teacher, and best parent e-mail address.
